About the Weaver Enchantress: The Heart of SoftSprout Designs
Hello!
The Vision: Why Magic Matters
They tell us that growing up means leaving the forest behind. They say that "adulthood" is a series of spreadsheets, beige walls, and serious decisions.
I believe adulthood is a trap—and handmade magic is the escape.
I’m Erin Golding, the Weaver Enchantress behind SoftSprout Designs. I don’t just crochet creatures; I conjure companions. In a world that feels increasingly heavy and mundane, I’ve dedicated my workshop to the rebels, the seekers, and the dreamers who still believe that a Witches Hat is a power suit and a dragon is the best desk familiar.
The Craft: Stitches Infused with Intention
Every artifact that leaves my workshop is born from a ritual of intentional calm.
When you hold a SoftSprout familiar, you aren’t just holding yarn and stuffing. You are holding:
Artisan Soul: I source hand-painted eyes from independent artists, ensuring your companion has a gaze as unique as your own.
Weighted Wisdom: Each piece is designed with a specific weight and texture—firm enough to stand as a guardian on your shelf, but soft enough to soothe an anxious mind during a long quest.
Functional Alchemy: My wearables, from the slouch of a Witches Hat to the serpentine flow of a Hug Dragon, are built to withstand the rigors of a Renaissance Faire while maintaining their ethereal charm.
The Workshop Philosophy
SoftSprout Designs is built on the pillars of Joy, Peace, and Financial Sovereignty. By supporting this small, magical business, you aren't just buying a product; you are supporting a sustainable ecosystem where art is valued, time is respected, and the "mundane" is consistently challenged.
Whether you are prepping for your next Great Quest at the Shire or simply need a mossy friend to guard your workspace against the "scary" parts of the world, I am honored to weave a bit of magic for you.
Our Story
The Origin: From "Sack Boy" to the Stage
My journey with the hook began over thirty years ago, but the true magic didn't spark until a simple request from my children: “Mumma, can you make us a Sack Boy?”
Watching their faces light up when that little doll came to life was a turning point. We still have that first doll today—a reminder of the pure, unadulterated joy that a handmade object can hold. From that moment, a hobby turned into a mission. I saw how a simple creature could spark a child’s imagination, and I realized that adults need that spark just as much.
My background in theater taught me the transformative power of a costume. In rehearsals, you are yourself—but the moment the costume goes on, you become the character. You stand taller. Your voice changes. You are empowered. I bring that same theatrical intent to every wearable I create. When you put on a pair of SoftSprout wings or a Witches Hat, I want you to feel that same shift. I want you to feel playful, powerful, and free to be the protagonist of your own story.
My workshop is a family affair. That same kiddo who asked for the Sack Boy can be found helping me during the summer at Faires and Farmers Markets. The Husband does the heavy lifting without complaint and is my biggest cheerleader. The youngest kiddo is always the first to see my new creations fresh off the hook usually with a “that’s sick” phrase of approval.
